Overlooking the wreckage of a JAL A350 passenger aircraft after a collision at Haneda Airport, Tokyo At 17:47 p.m. on January 2, a JAL A350 passenger aircraft landing at Tokyo's Haneda Airport collided on the runway with a JMSA DHC-8 transport aircraft and burst into flames. All 367 passengers and 12 crew members on board were safely evacuated, while the captain of the JMSA transport plane was seriously injured and five crew members died. According to information released by the Japanese government, the JMSA plane involved in the collision was on its way to deliver relief supplies to the earthquake-stricken area. The Japan Police Agency announced that it had opened an investigation into the incident on suspicion of operational negligence resulting in death or injury.
