Japanese Lunar Lander Camera Demonstration

Researchers at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto simulate remote operation of the multi-band camera on board Japan's r Smart Lunar Explorer] (SLIM), Shiga Prefecture.On Nov. 28, the Japan Aerospace Agency (JAXA) announced the completion of a simulation of the operational process for the lunar exploration camera, confirming that ground personnel can remotely operate the camera to take pictures of the moon's surface and send back data. Japan [Intelligent Lunar Probe, launched in September 2023 is expected to perform a landing in January-February 2024 near the lunar equator.
